How to Apply

Youth Requirements:

  • Individual must be 16 to 21 years of age.

  • Be enrolled in a GED program if high school diploma has not been obtained or be willing to enroll in one.

  • Household must be in certain income bracket (contact the Coastal Workforce Center for more details as these numbers tend to change).

  • Must have a genuine interest in program elements.

  • Upon completion of the program, participants will become employed, join the military or enter into post-secondary education (College or Technical College).

Certification:

All applicants must be certified by the Coastal Workforce Center before they are able to attend classes. Your case manager will set-up an appointment for you at the One-Stop upon completing the interview process. The Coastal Workforce Center is located at:

Enrollment Process:

All interested individuals will go through a thorough interview process to ensure he/she is a proper fit for the program. The process is as follows:
  1. Contact Martha Flom
  2. Initial Interview
  3. Orientation
  4. Class Simulation
  5. Certification Appointment
  6. Enrollment

 

Remember: Participant eligibilty after the PALM interview process is determined by the Coastal Workforce Center. Individuals who do not qualify based on the state's standards will not be able to attend PALM. Even if an individual is found eligible after certification, actual enrollment into the PALM program is at the PALM staff's discretion.

Documents Needed for Certification:

  • Birth Certificate and/or Social Security card
  • Driver's License or State ID card
  • High School withdrawl form (If Applicable)
  • Proof of government assistance (Food Stamps, TANF, Unemployment, etc.)
  • Proof of pregnant or parenting (If Applicable)
  • Household income (tax returns, recent check stubs, etc.)
  • If offender, letter from parole officer or court
  • Males over 17: Selective Service verification (Go to www.sss.gov to register or print verification.)
  • At least two alternate contacts (Name, Address and Phone Numbers)
  • Completed Youth Pre-Screen Form from Palmetto Motorsports

*If you miss your appointment, it is your responsibilty to schedule another one.
