(5-13-2008) When the motorcycle technology course began nearly 12 weeks ago, a new group of students looked upon various motorcycle parts; causing their minds to run with creativity, knowing that these parts would soon result in a custom built motorcycle. Now, these students are proud of their completed project and great creation.
Under the instruction of Dick Martin, a custom motorcycle professional, these students ventured on a journey that would lead them from mere pieces to a final masterpiece; a completed custom built bike. The final project will be sold so that this learning experience process could start again.
Lynn Harrington, a motorcycle technology graduate explained, "now that Dick Martin and Palmetto Motorsports has come into my life my dreams have come true". Harrington was one of the students that worked diligently on the project. He aspires to one day open his own custom bike shop where he can use his skills and training. "I am very thankful for Palmetto Motorsports, this school has changed my life", said Harrington.
The motorcycle technology program teaches students skills development in welding, metal fabricating, metal finishing and assembling of components. This project has become a great addition to the PALM curriculum. Students are able to learn basic skills through the process of building a custom motorcycle. For many of these students building this bike has been their greatest success and the hands on experience this course offers has aided in the development of becoming better motorcycle engineers.
"For the last 12 weeks they have worked on this motorcycle from conception to completion and now it is ready for a new home", Dick Martin said.
This bike is now for sale and will be auctioned at Dick Martin Custom Cycles located on Socastee Blvd. in Socastee. For further information please call (843) 903-6600. |
